White paper: Analog to digital conversion

This white paper describes the basic task of a measurement chain and the path from physical variables to a digital
signal that can be fed into a PC or microcontroller for visualization or further processing.

In particular, the general
function of an analog-to-digital converter and the functional principle of the most common analog-to-digital converters
are explained in a simplified form.

Also, the signal pre-processing that is necessary for the analog signal to
be correctly converted into a digital signal by the AD converter, as well as errors that may occur during the entire
process.
